Pilot Charles Moon surveyed the path of destruction this morning. The highlighted gray area is what he described as the path of total destruction. More info coming.

Cocktail Slew took a direct hit. The Blount side and Liberty Lodge are gone (so I heard). Any other details?

Judging by the path and what we have heard from neighbors we are lucky to still have a place. we are in mtn lake estates. several houses are total losses in that area according to sources have not been able to get much info.

No damage on Mccain Road area at all that we have seen. Storm crossed 63 at south end of Childrens Harbor and the Ampkitheater and then crossed the lake.

The gray shaded area could be extended west to take in the Mount Hebron Road/Kamp Kiwanis Road intersection or Middle Road there the fatalities were.

For the best info on Cocktail Slough damage, look at these photos: http://kennethboone.smugmug.com/News/Tornado-on-Lake-Martin-April/16816102_6q4LJF#1269028108_PfDkQtT-A-LB They show the path on the north side of the slough, cutting just below Jones' Point, behind the Folmar place (the large pier in the slough) and ripping out the houses on the northeast side of the slough. There are many photos in the batch. Keep clicking around to get all the views. If anyone finds better pictures of the Jones and Folmar places, I would love to see them posted!

We got some aerials yesterday with a few closer-up. I don't know if they include the homes you are looking for. I've posted them with the others in the Tornado gallery here:

I'm familiar with the lake from the air, but because of the debris and destruction I got disoriented several times. Because some houses are missing, it is sometimes difficult to tell where one property ends and another begins or whether it was one piece of property or two. I did not try to count, but it looked as if there maybe 50 houses that would be complete rebuilds. And maybe another 75 that would have received damage of various degrees... But this is only my estimate from what I saw passing by it all.

out my set linked below on Flickr.  You have to wade through a lot because for some reason they are out of order but I took 30 or so in Cocktail Slough on Thursday from the water.

I linked in a photo directly below.  If you stay in this picture set, and look for the # of the photo before and after, you can see the ones I took in the cocktail slough

Does anyone know if Jim Scott, the man with the large Lake Martin garden, is alright after the tornado?

The Scott property is near the dam and should not have been affected by the storm.
