Posted: 2/10/2023 Burt Coffman, Project ManagerMost of you may know the Equality VFD is in the process of building a new fire station on County Road 20. It will provide fire protection to homeowners that are currently in a no fire coverage area. The residents of this area are providing the entire funding for this project and will be equipping the station through their donations. During the excavation of the site, we encountered large rocks that required special equipment. This continually delayed the progress. The county continued to chip away at the rock, which damaged the equipment being used. However, site prep is completed. We encourage everyone to take the time and pass by the site, slow down and look at the site and great work the County Highway Department did for us. We greatly appreciate the efforts of Engineer Tad Eason and the Highway Department, District 4, Commissioner Ronnie Joiner, and the entire Coosa County Commission. Our contractors are in the process of preparing to pour the pad. The steel is on order, and we hope to complete the building within the next couple months weather permitting. Designated donations for the new station have been excellent; however, it is too early to tell if we will have enough to complete the building project; current donations from residents for Station #2, equal $154,000. Please continue to donate to ensure we have the funds to complete the station and place it in service. Please keep in mind, once the building is constructed, we’ll need funds for vehicles and other equipment to supply, maintain, to operate the station. PhotosMember Comments… |
